Health & Innovation District welcomes Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. as new resident
As of May 2022, the Japanese multinational Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. is the newest resident of the Health & Innovation District (Hid) around Sanquin’s head office. At the Hid, start-ups and scale-ups, the business community and knowledge institutions work together to translate scientific research into practical applications, making healthcare better and more affordable worldwide.
Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. is part of the age-old Mitsui Group, which was founded in Japan in 1673. In recent years, the company has focused on Life and Healthcare business, among others. At the Hid, Mitsui will make use of the state of the art laboratory facilities of the campus.
Dr. Hidetoshi Tomita, director of clinical lab business, explains why Mitsui Chemicals chose to take on this partnership with the Health & Innovation District in Amsterdam: “To accomplish innovation and establish a new business in diagnostics space, Mitsui needed a partner who has strong expertise in the area. We’re very excited to become one of the Hid residents in Sanquin”.
Managing director Rogier van den Braak from the Hid: “We’re proud to welcome Mitsui in our midst. They are a renowned party with a long successful track record and therefor a very relevant partner to our ecosystem of science and health care organisations. We look forward to having them at our campus”.
