Hid resident BISC Global receives grant for further development of analysis software for immune repertoire

Hid residents talk about their projects and research results. BISC Global is a resident of the Hid. They recently received a large grant to further develop their Immune Repertory Analysis Software.

BISC Global, an international bioinformatics consulting company with offices in Belgium, The Netherlands, USA (Boston and San Francisco) and Switzerland, was awarded a €500 thousand research and development grant from Flanders Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (VLAIO). This grant will support further development of BISC Global’s immune repertoire sequencing data analysis algorithms and software.

Immunological research to the next level
With the development in sequencing technologies and personalized medicine, there is a growing need to analyse the immune repertoire (proteins produced by adaptive immune systems). BISC Global aims to build an easy-to-use solution, offering the latest in immune repertoire analysis algorithms, and allowing researchers to analyse their data in a reproducible and standardized way.

The immune repertoire software will enable researchers to identify differences in immunorepertoire diversity between patient and control samples, to study the clonotype overlap between samples, and to cluster the samples based on their repertoires. Based on the results of this analysis, one could be able to evaluate whether cytokines, which boost the immune repertoire, are a treatment option for affected patients.
